Feminism Doesn’t Make Your Heart Skip a Beat

I could be standing tall,
Like I could do it all.
Reflection may show lines
Of recklessness and time.
But I am still a girl.
Fresh flowers in her hair
Thoughts twirling in the air
Hopeful to be asked to dance.
An arm around to quench the fear
A closeness to behold so dear.
Don’t think the rants and raves
Mean bravery in threes.
I yield a sword to show
That I could do it all,
But no one rises strong
When they stand all alone.
And I could run through fields
Forgetting all my deeds
If I glimpsed your shadow
Waving in the meadow.
